-everがついた複合関係詞

Whoever is in distress can call on me,

誰でもわたしのことを頼りにしてくれていいのよ。

どこにいたって駆け付けるわ。

関係詞は基本的に形容詞節を作ります。

先行詞	主格	所有格	目的格

形容詞節

The woman 〔who entered the building〕 was my mother.（その建物に入った女性は私の母だった。）

whatだけは名詞節を作ります。（形容詞節はつくらない）

実は-everのついた複合関係詞も形容詞節を作りません。

whoever、whateverなど関係代名詞に-everがくっついた（複合した）ものを

複合関係代名詞といいます。

関係副詞に-everがつけば複合関係副詞です。

複合関係代名詞

→whoever/whomever/whatever/whichever

複合関係副詞

→whenever/wherever/however

構文の取り方は

-everがついた複合関係詞は形容詞節だけはつくらない

例

①Whoever break this law will be punished.

②Whoever may object to this plan, I will carry it out.

①はWhoever breaks this law will be punished.

Whoever breaks this lawは何かわからないがカタマリです。

will be punished がV（動詞）だとわかります。

なので、Whoever breaks this lawが名刺だとわかります。

②はWhoever may object to this plan,I will carry it out.

Whoever may object to this planは何節か分からない

I will carryがSV（主語＋動詞）なので

Whoever may object to this planが余分な部分だとわかる。

余分な場合は副詞のカタマリなのがわかります。
